lago de atitlan

we took a bus to lago de atitlan from antigua. it wasn´t a very long trip and we arrived in panajachel yesterday. pana, aka ¨gringotenango¨(land of the foreigners), is a popular place on the lake but really nothing special. we hung out around town and at the lake most of the afternoon. we stayed at this really cheap cute place with a nice old lady owner. she had a bunch of silver teeth and smiled a lot. there were a bunch of kids and chickens running around all the time. one cute little boy said ¨hola!¨ to us all the time. there were people selling all kinds of goods along the streets at almost identical stalls, kind of like the swap meet. there are a lot of cool guatemalan looking stuff but i´m definitely waiting to the big market in chichi later.

we took a little boat across the lake to san marcos today and are staying in a little place with a thatched roof! way cool. the town is pretty tiny and has a definite hippie vibe. there is a meditation center and holistic center, as well as massages and yoga everywhere. peace man.
